She Is NaturalVital: How One Woman’s Story Became a Haircare Revolution

You’re not crazy. This is going to work.
— Olajumoke, Founder

We sat down with NaturalVital’s founder to talk about scalp care, healing through hair, and the truth about clean beauty for Black women.

The Woman, The Brand, The Why

.When Olajumoke lost her hair to heat damage and illness, she didn’t go shopping for a miracle. She went back to her roots — literally.

What began as kitchen experiments and gifting samples to friends has now blossomed into a brand reshaping the meaning of “clean beauty” for Black women.

Her name is Olajumoke. Her brand is NaturalVital. And her story is one we all need to hear.

Edwan: Tell us about the moment the idea for NaturalVital was born.

Olajumoke: I was in my tiny room in 2018, broke but full of longing to create something meaningful...
I had just realised modelling wasn’t for me, my blog wasn’t working, and I had lost my hair to heat damage and illness. I began researching and making products in my mom’s kitchen, which completely changed the story for my scalp.

I gave free samples to friends who came back talking about how it has helped their hair.
It was a conversation with a friend that changed everything. He said, “You’ve helped so many people — why not build something bigger?

That was the moment something in me clicked.

That night, NaturalVital was born.

Edwan: What was the first product you made, and how did it feel?

Olajumoke: Avocado oil, infused with essential oils. I poured it into a reused container, sealed it, and stared at it for minutes. It felt like I was holding part of myself.

Edwan: What does “natural” mean to you?

Olajumoke: Homecoming. Simplicity. Purity — not just in ingredients, but in intention.
To be safe in your body, and to let nature do its thing.

Edwan: Why Ayurvedic & African herbal ingredients?

Olajumoke: Because our roots matter. Ayurveda taught me the science behind ancient wisdom, and African herbs are a legacy from our forefathers. They nourish more than the scalp — they nourish identity

Edwan: What’s been your proudest moment — and your toughest?

Olajumoke: Proudest? A voice note from a customer who said, “Your product gave me my hair back.”
Toughest? Financial droughts. Showing up when no one sees you. But I got certified in 2022 — and it changed everything.

Edwan: If you could write a letter to your Day 1 self, what would it say?

Olajumoke: “You’re not crazy. This is going to work. You’ll cry, you’ll fall, but you are becoming.”

Edwan: If NaturalVital were a person…

Olajumoke: She’s calm. Grounded. Wise. She walks barefoot in a garden and commands the room without saying a word.

Edwan: What’s your self-care ritual these days?

Olajumoke: Sunday oiling sessions. Soft music. Herbal tea. Silence.
My go-to? Our Rich Hair Butter — my scalp’s best friend

Edwan: What do you hope a little girl feels when she picks up a NaturalVital bottle in 10 years?

Olajumoke: Seen. Celebrated. Capable. That she can build something too. That her hair is enough. That she is enough.

Edwan: Why did you say yes to MBG? And what would you tell other Black women dreaming of starting?

Olajumoke: MBG is about sisterhood. Visibility. I said yes because our stories deserve to be told.

To anyone dreaming: Don’t wait for perfect. Begin.
