Jason Jermaine Bleu - Founder of contemporary fashion brand from Ghana

Jason Jermaine Asiedu (Founder)

Behind The Brand

For Jason Jermaine Asiedu, the story begins at home, the hum of his mother’s sewing machine, the folds of fabric in his aunt’s workshop, the vibrant colours in 1970s Accra that filled the air around him. He took all of that memory, craft, culture and wove it into a label: Jermaine Bleu.

From the earliest collections, Jason rooted the brand in Ghana, choosing not to outsource but to build there, working hand-in-hand with local artisans, evolving batik prints into silky dress fabrics, turning tradition into something new and bold.

Each piece is built on structure and sentiment: clean lines, thoughtful drape, fabrics that carry weight and softness. The name itself is meaningful: Jermaine, his given name; Bleu, the French spelling of “blue”, chosen as a symbol of calm, growth, opulence, and freedom.

Their collections reflect dualities: heritage and contemporary, strength and vulnerability, architecture and fluidity. In the Autumn/Winter 22 collection, for instance, wave-inspired prints interpreted the Atlantic coast’s rhythm while echoing the designer’s search for freedom within structure.

When you wear Jermaine Bleu, you’re wearing a narrative of identity, of place, of subtle rebellion against the idea that African luxury must look a certain way.

Jason says: “I’m not in a race; I’m building something sustainable, even if it takes time.”
