Behind The Brand

Founded in 2017 by Maya Amoah, Batik Boutik began as a heartfelt homage to her Ghanaian heritage, and a love letter to African wax prints. While visiting her grandmother in Accra, Maya soaked in the vibrant markets and street-side tailoring culture of the Aburi mountains. She returned to Montreal inspired to transform traditional fabrics into bold, modern fashion pieces.

Drawing from her background in journalism, political science, and fashion, Maya blends storytelling with style. Her e-commerce brand showcases ethically produced garments made in Ghana, featuring one-of-a-kind batik dresses, kimonos, coordinated sets, and hand-beaded accessories.

Every piece is a wearable dialogue between modern North American design sensibilities and traditional West African motifs, crafted collaboratively with Ghanaian artisans to celebrate craft, culture, and conscious fashion.
